mpm2 Monday - Chicken Fried Rice.  I love how Donna creates well rounded meals and spices up otherwise boring veggies (I can honestly say green beans are my least favourite veggie) after seeing how she jazzed these up I immediately wanted to give them a try. Tucked away in the back of my freezer I know I have some chunked chicken which will make this rice recipe a breeze.

Tuesday - Meatball sandwiches and peas.  It is amazing what you find in the freezer after months of not cleaning it out.  I found a large portion of prepared meatballs to add to some spaghetti sauce for an easy dinner of toasted meatball subs

Wednesday - Chicken and crock pot quinoa.  With my $3 off coupon at our local Bulk Barn I stocked up on some organic quinoa in the hopes of making this recipe.  After having this on my "to make" list I am finally going to give it a shot.

Thursday - Spaghetti and breadsticks.  I tried this recipe last week because I forgot to prepare fresh bread and the whole family LOVED them.  They were so easy they have since graduated to a permanent spot in my recipe binder.

Friday - Homemade pizza and garlic fingers

Saturday - Waffles.  I have had these waffles bookmarked for some time now and decided to prepare them Wednesday evening and whip them up Thursday morning.  If there are leftovers (highly doubt it the way Dane eats) I will freeze them and see how they fare out in the toaster the next day.  I recently bought some new whole grains and flours and wanted to experiment with soaking and baking with whole grains and thought this would be an easy first step to this process.  I think I may try some millet and spelt flakes along with my hard whole wheat flour.  I will update you if they turn out...if you don't see anything they bombed and I substituted them for brick pavers.

Sunday - turkey dinner.  From one of my early morning "running of the frugal ladies" I snagged the sacred half price turkey.  I will now cook that said turkey...ha ha ladies you may be good but I am a runner and can beat you, even carrying a frozen bird.

I wanted to leave you with a new snack recipe that is easy, somewhat healthy and most of all easy.  Did I say that twice?  If so that's because it's a deciding factor in choosing a snack recipe for my family.  This recipe has become a new favourite of my family and I especially like that I can use some of the hard whole wheat flour I bought .  I especially love that fact they have no oil or other major artery clogging oil and the kids love them primarily due to the addition of chocolate chips.  Thanks Donna

Check this site out for info on Quinoa. I am going to try this instead of rice in a rice pudding.

Re: Menu Monday

Hey, your choco-chip bars look better than mine! Mind if I try a bite? :-)

I just soaked millet two nights ago for breakfast and last night I left 7grain (rolled flakes) soaking for breakfast.
I do hope to hear how your grains and soaking turn out!!!!

Running of the frugal ladies? with a turkey? Is this a new exercise program?
