I once had a mother of 10 tell me "there is nothing like having company over to get your house cleaned". I now look forward to having people over as it forces me to address those often neglected tasks that seem to pile up on that "to do" list . I am having three friends with their little ones over in the morning so I am spending this wet dreary day getting things clean and dealt with. Items such as replacing that picture that fell off the wall or putting up that awkward wooden shelf in the bedroom have been done and crossed off that list. I also took this weekend to clean out some cupboards and cabinets, giving them a good wipe down and tossing or donating items that have been forgotten about. One area that always ends up in chaos is the space underneath our TV in our entertainment unit. Somehow the movies and cd gets mixed up and placed in the wrong cases and or strewn across the top of the VCR. I matched up every VCR/DVD/cd with their proper cases and lined them up neatly....we'll see how long that lasts.
The other hutch in the same room now houses all of our board games, my scrapbook albums and any learning material for my oldest. I recently decided to keep all of his books in here as well. The only way to keep my son's interest peaked is to limit the amount of time spent with something. The same goes with books, Every time I take one out for use in his newly implemented "quiet time" or before bed he is as excited as the first time he saw it. When preparing material for his "learning time" I can easily access material from this stash such as toddler sized puzzles, board games, learning blocks or magnet boards (his absolute favourite) get stashed here as opposed to his playroom that way when I do haul it out it is a novelty and he is more apt to learn.
My biggest tackle has to be the fact that my house is spotless....all of it. Since I use a daily cleaning schedule parts of my house are clean but there is always one part that is not. I now have that whole house clean smell......(I am inhaling as I type)
