kitchentiptuesdays

I have seen this tip before and for the life of me cannot figure out why It took me so long to implement it.

Garbage day around here falls on a Thursday morning, therefore Wednesday evening I clean out the fridge and toss out any petrified produce, spilt liquids and any other mystery item that cannot be identified.  One area I tend to overlook are the crispers because if I can't see something it gets forgotten, period.    I continue to struggle with remembering items I place in there but in the meantime I found a way to keep cleaning this spot a little easer. Simply line them with a single sheet of paper towel.  When those squishy grapes escape from those mesh produce bags rest assured they can be simply wrapped up in the paper and tossed out.  No more hauling those awkward drawers trying to wash them in your too small of a sink and finally attempting to get them back on the track only to cry out in frustration at your hubby to finish it for you.images

Now I normally don't buy paper towel.  Not only because I am somewhat environmentally conscious, rather I am from the mind set that other than wings, ribs and corn on the cob there should be no reason to have to wipe your face unless you are under the age of five.  I do, however, use cloth napkins or paper towel for company butmessy face for everyday use there are two options.

1. Open mouth wide enough to insert utensil AND food

2. If #1 fails, use sleeve or grab dishrag that is hanging on oven door

Cruel I know, but I cannot stand to waste more paper and spend money on something that sits on someone's lap, hardly gets used and ends up in the trash.  Having said all of that I will get to the point that I do buy one roll of Bounty for the sole purpose of lining the crisper drawers...and the odd potty training accident.

Since I am discussing the fridge why not check out some great tips on other kitchen topics here.  The ladies at Organizing Connection have assembled tonnes of information to help you organize your space and hopefully keep it that way.

Re: Bounty tough

Isn't this a big time saver? I do it all the time for my three drawers and it makes cleaning them a lot easier.

Hugs!!!

Sorry to say, but I suffer from paper towel addiction. From

eating pizza, to wiping out my sink, to drying freshly washed

fruit. Now, I'll add a new use for paper towel to my list.

What a good idea.

Re: Bounty tough

I never thought of that. How simple. I could use old dish towels and on wash day throw them into the wash.

Re: Bounty tough

I'm afraid I too am a paper towel fan, although I'm a little too cheap to buy them. But we often get them through our gleaners program.

Good idea!

Re: Bounty tough

The paper towel folks aren't going to like me very much...but I use a section of old newspaper to line my produce and meat drawers! Either way, I sure does make life easier.

Re: Bounty tough

I clean my fridge out every Thursday night for trash day on Friday morning. What a nifty idea for paper towel.

Thanks for stopping by my blog today! Those pics of my pantry are "before pantry challenge" pics...it is a very well stocked pantry with not much room for anything else. However, just today I did some more rearranging and found space on the shelves for more things! LOL Come around next week and see what a nearly empty pantry looks like. LOL

Re: Bounty tough

Sonshine, that is what my pantry looks like all the time. lol. I am so envious of your cvs deals, coupons and double coupon days. We rarely have coupons here and the rewards programs we do have take you forever to get a free box of kleenex.

Mom2 fur. I love the idea of newspaper. We have tonnes of them and although we burn wood we could easily spare some....especially the sale flyers as we cannot burn colored paper.

mykidsmom. Paper towel is very expensive and I often see so many of you gals from the States get great deals from those programs.

Barbaralee. Dish towels could be another great idea. I tend to do them a couple times a week so I could easily throw them in the wash too. Thanks

Braunlyn. I totally understand your paper towel need. With that many kids I have no idea how you would do without it....other than do laundry 10x a day.
