Here I go again...saving garbage.  It may becoming painfully clear that I love to find creative uses for trash and peach baskets are no exception.

I recently bought 6 baskets of ripe peaches for jam and slices to can and what remained besides endless sticky counters were these large baskets.  Lucky for me zuchinni season was in full swing so I have been baking my little heart out and making numerous batches of my favourite butterscotch zucchini bread.

On Saturday my best friend was moving into their new house, so I thought I would scoot over and drop off one of the loaves fresh from the oven.  Knowing the pan would be too hot to carry, I simply slipped it in one of the baskets for easy toting.  The pan fit perfectly and was cooled just enough to eat once it arrived.  Needless to say I saved the rest of these little gems in a bin I have designated for unique containers I use to house simple homemade edible gifts for various occasions

I paired the warm loaf with a bottle of peach/raspberry freezer jam.  I am hoping they can at least stop and enjoy some goodies while sorting through the mountains of boxes that I am sure are strewn about the house.

Reminds me of how much I hate moving.

Yum! What a great idea. I've never seen baskets like that before.

Re: peach baskets

That actually makes a cute holder. They usually just pack peaches in boxes out here.

Peach/Raspberry jam sounds SO good!

Re: peach baskets

Our peaches come from Ontario, they are the best peaches I ever had. I have only known them to come in these baskets but never thought of keeping them.
I tried peach/raspberry this year because I have found all raspberry is so tart and needs so much sugar but with the sweet peaches it naturally sweetens it.

Those baskets are adorable! I've never seen anything like that around here. Butterscotch Zucchini Bread sounds delicious!

Well how clever is that! I think what you are telling me is I'm not the only one with a container for my containers..lol.

Re: peach baskets

Well aren't you smart?
Perhaps I'll dig out a few boxes, throw some stuff in it, and call you up for my 'moving day', while I sit perched looking out my window waiting for my little pan to show up! haha
Must go...lots of packing to do!!! :)

Re: peach baskets

I saved all our peach baskets to. Even though hubby rolled his eyes when I asked him not to toss them. Thanks for giving me a great idea for them! They are also good for storing baby jars in.

Thanks again for being so creative!

Re: peach baskets

I'll give you a call this weekend, you'll have to come by again. Got lots done. And your loaf sure came in handy. I'm not sure it's in one of the food groups but it served as my lunch one day while unpacking! Fabulous!!!

Re: peach baskets

Adorable! Makes me want to move so you'll bring me a bread/peach basket! Okay, not really, but it sounds amazing.
