library bagWith our new set of wheels,  the kids and I have been travelling to the library once a week to stock up on books and movies.  Combined weights of the children bring the cargo I have to haul to a whopping 50 lbs. Needless to say any unnecessary items are left behind, including my wallet which normally holds my library card.  I know what you are thinking, "how much could that weigh?" not much I'm sure, but if you saw the pitch of the hill heading home I would leave my watch off if I thought it would make it easier.

On numerous occasions I left my wallet at home containing the card or forgot that I stuffed it in the last pair of pants I wore.   I solved this problem by assigning one of the many canvas totes that I picked up at a yard sale and attached the plastic card to it using a metal clip.  When I arrive home the tote hangs near the back door and once a book is read it is immediately returned to this spot.  When we are ready to return books it's a matter of grabbing the bag, which should contain everything and heading out.  Not only does this prevent me from forgetting the card it avoids the use of plastic bags tlibrary cardhe libraries normally provide.

We have a similar set-up, but I bet it took us longer to put it into action than yours did;) It used to drive me crazy having to run around looking into every nook and cranny for that one library book/cd/dvd that would be in the last place you could possibly think of.

I envy your library wheels; I know, easy to say when you're not the one pulling the weight, LoL.

I love this idea! I have a bag I bought from the library as a donation to one of their programs. I have never thought of clipping the library card right to it though. That would free up space on my key chain, Lord knows I have a ton of other cards on there right now. LOL
