I am so glad I found this particular site. It gave me the inspiration to tackle my bare windows or at the very least start thinking about them. She has the uncanny ability to make anything, including a dirty dishrag look fashionable . Oh! and she is frugal to boot....Bonus.

Her site is called the Nesting Place and includes a plethora of eye candy for those decorating diva's, or wannabe's like me. I especially like her approach of a no fuss, low budget and more importantly no sewing rule when it comes to decorating. She has a particular knack for window treatments which she refers to as "mistreatment" . After reading her archived posts on various styles and materials she had me scouring flea markets and fabric sales for interesting and contrasting material to spruce up the place. I even got the gumption to venture into our local fabric store amongst the expert seamstresses that would have normally had me running out with my head hung in shame. Not now, I walked in there looking like I actually had a clue what I was doing. I instantly made a mad dash for the curtain clips made especially for us cheater sewers. I finally snagged these floral panels for $2 at a secondhand store that enabled me to hang drapes without cutting or sewing (aka hot gluing).
Here is a picture of my bathroom mistreatment. You could only imagine the surprised look on my husbands face when he saw these hanging there in all of their I don't belong in a bathroom glory. " Who care's!" I heard The Nester say, "go for it!". We recently re-modeled the bathroom and thanks to my hubby
and 24 hours of sanding, the vanity and matching shelf over the loo are stained a deep walnut with contrasting black pewter handles. I also found a "butt" ugly cupboard with the most amazing glass knobs for $2 that coordinated perfectly with my shiny new shelf. I even found an extra one in my Dad's garage (which is the hardware version of Mr. Dressups tickle trunk) to match the others which doubled as a tie back for the remaining ball fringe that I had glued..(yes she uses a hot glue gun) on my curtain. I attached the pleated piece with upholstery tacks and the overlapping drape is held with a cheap tension rod I found for a couple of bucks at Wal-mart.
I am now on the hunt for a small crystal chandelier to hang above the tub....then we will
be living like royalty.
