I love participating in this carnival over at Kellie's house. She asks readers to show a cherished antique or other item in their home. I love old things, especially when there is a story behind them. This doll has been in the family for several generations. It is quite haunting and honestly scared the living day lights out of me when I was little. The story behind the heirloom is quite sad. The doll belonged to my great aunt. When she was around the age of four she was playing too close to the open fireplace with the doll in hand when her hair caught fire. Tragically she died.& ...

Like my fake Poinsettia's? I use these as opposed to real ones in case our cat Cheerio chews on them or my 17 month old. (the dirty face is from eating the bark from the firewood, not the plant) For more Wordless ...

I guess this carnival gives me the opportunity to toot my own horn. As mom's, we find ourselves doing routine and mundane tasks. For myself, a whole day can go by and my biggest accomplishment consisted of changing my youngest son's blowout while dangling a three year old off my leg. Oh! and I cloth diaper to boot. I can honestly say the TV has been on one time in over a year since becoming a SAHM....let me further define that. I mean on a channel not hosted by a fat purple dinosaur or various cartoon characters with big heads rhyming non stop. My days are filled with laundry, more laundry and meal prep. In between is my part time job as professional referee, snot soaker upper, floor wiper, window washer and boo boo kisser. To most (non mom's and the majority of the male population (not all men, there are those token males out there) this does not seem like much of an accomplishment and honesty I have to remind myself numerous times a day of this as well. In my previous job I had deadlines, goals, quotas and quarterly reviews to keep me focused. Raises were attained and positions changed, but most of all at the end of the day I knew what I accomplished. Working at home ...

I recently did a post on fake vs. real Christmas and specifically our big tree/small house dilemma. You know, the one we ended up chopping a good foot off the top AND bottom to actually get it in the house. Thinking we lived in a home that rivalled the white house, we brought this year's gem home only to get it up and......well let's just say actually measuring it would have come in handy. But....did we learn our lesson? Probably not. Are you shocked?..wait! don't answer that one.

Nothing like a warm winter day to kindly remind you how filthy your car is. That leaky milk filled sippy cup under the seat and the familiar crunch of Barnum and Bailey animal crackers stuck to the mud crusted floor mats. You think this would have been enough to haul out the monster shop vac and bring my little matrix back to it's former glory. Nope, instead I growled about it and proceeded to add it to my "to do" list. While I should have been gutting out the vehicle I was blog surfing when I came across this hilarious car related post written by one hilarious professional organizer. I recently met Jackie on my trip to the POC conference in Toronto and she recently shared her views on New Brunswick drivers. She sure nailed this one on the head. Here's Jackie's view on us Maritime drivers - Politeness reigns supreme. If you're at a 4-way stop, wave the other people go first even if you got there first and even if they're waving you to go first. You might have to sit there all day until a car with an out-of-provin ...

I just arrived home from Toronto after 4 fun filled days attending the Professional Organizers of Canada convention. I would love nothing more than to spend time uploading pics (I have a few) dish on the new products I checked out and most of all good friends I met, but honestly I am pooped. That and the fact I have not regained complete feeling in my lower limbs after spending two hours scrunched up in a plane the size of an older model Aerostar. I have come to the conclusion when seated in the front row of an airplane, you cross your legs and they reach part way into the cockpit....the plane is way too small. Upside to this? Being met at the airport by the most amazing Mr. Mom (otherwise referred to as Hun) and the sweetest (and not so sweet smelling) three year old at the gate. I was able to come home to play one game of his new game of Chinese Checkers, tuck him into his new bed and spend 10 minutes in awe staring at my sweet 16 month old sound asleep in his crib. For now I will enjoy the last of my "getaway" knowing in several hours I will be transformed back into reality, a world of screaming kids, snotty noses, dirty diapers and food covered floors. Although jet setting and travelling is nice and I admit at times I do miss the corporate world, my heart is calling me home. So for now I will put away the dress pants, dangly jewelry and 3 " heels and happily slip into my uniform of comfy pj's and fuzzy slippers while prepping the coffee perk for the busy and early morning ahead.
