Re: What works for you?
Niki, I have to say that one of my greatest resources for meal planning is Menu Mondays found on The Organizing Junkie's website (www.orgjunkie.com). Every Sunday I get an email with different meal suggestions by the Org Junkie. She also has a list that people can sign up for that has other people's meal plans. You can, literally, choose from hundreds of weekly meal plans! The great thing about this system is twofold: (1) most people post tried and true tested recipes and (2) it provides a great variety of choices.

What I like to do is try a couple of different recipes a week. Since I am not an avid cook, I have convinced my 12 year old daughter that she would be a great cook. With this seed planted in her head and continued encouragement from the whole family, she has decided that cooking really is for her. So twice a week, she plans, preps and cooks dinner. We both decide what will work for the family (different tastes to consider), what we have in the freezer or what is on sale that week and lastly, what she is capable of handling (no roast turkey or risotto...yet).

I must admit, I do have weeks like Jackie that all is lost by Tuesday (see post above) but I also know that those weeks are fewer and further apart. With the help of the weekly menu plan, I am enjoying the process much more.

Oh, and my last little trick: my husband does the cooking on the weekends! Yee Haw!

Re: What works for you?
Hey Downshifting,
I'm going to try the Org Junkies menu plans. I'm getting sick of the same meals over and over again. Thanks for the above post.
I'll let you know how things go at my house.
